Re: Мастер и Маргарита. By Andrew Lloyd Webber

В новом интервью Эндрю при обсуждении МиМ снова всплыло имя Тима Райса:

I had lunch with Tim Rice last week, and he said to me that what he rather liked about my idea to do The Master and Margarita— though its not definite he’s going to do it with me yet—as a musical is that everybody is going to say, that’s a really bad idea. If you think of all the things of ours that worked, everyone said it was a bad idea at the time. Evita is a really terrible idea. And Cats was beyond-the-pale frightful—setting a dead poet’s cat poems to music and asking people to believe that the actors are cats dancing is not the stuff that investment in theatre is made of. The Master and Margarita has a lot of ingredients in it that could be made to work, but they’ve all got to be right. But I like it when people ask me, how are you going to fly a naked girl across Moscow? That’s what I’ve got to find out. You have to find the answer. We have to go to someone who is really good at those sorts of things and ask how much of it can be done.

Что-то определенно происходит!

I don't know where the next thing [=great musical] is coming from. 15 or 20 years ago I thought that was going to happen once the Iron Curtain fell, that the country that produced Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Shostakovich was where we should be looking and where something would happen. But there's been 'sweet FA'. (c) Andrew Lloyd Webber
