ROCKY HORROR SEQUEL NEAR WORKSHOP STAGE
Writer and actor Richard O'Brien has revealed he has only one more song to pen until his sequel to The Rocky Horror Show is completed.
O'Brien who has twice tried to complete sequels to the musical first produced in 1973, said that this attempt should be ready early next year to test in a workshop format.
He said: "It's nearly finished but I just have a denouement song to write and I'm having trouble with it. I need the most brilliant song and then it's basically there, at least for workshop purposes."
He added that all the characters would return, except Eddie, who died in the original story, though he is even toying with his resurrection.
No casting has been touted but O'Brien stated: "I want actors who can sing a bit. I need that bit extra for the subtext and actors that understand how to move and how to use body language. I am fed up with people who are just alright at performing, dancing and singing."
O'Brien said he was returning to his native New Zealand for Christmas while collaborator Richard Hartley continues to work on the music.
