THE SEXIEST EXPERIENCE OF THE THEATRICAL CENTURY!
You've had unique, you've done revolutionary, and you've seen spectacular, sensational, superb, fabulous, thrilling, extraordinary and electrifying.

Now forget it all: De La Guarda - currently a sensation in New York - has arrived in London for a limited engagement.

The show hails from Argentina, and the style, content, commitment, effect, insanity and power of the performance defy gravity, belief and description.

ROUNDHOUSE previewed 11 May, opened 18 May 1999, closed 22 April 2000

The press has struggled for words to get to grips with its awesome originality. It's "as good as sex" (The Guardian), "physically audacious and emotionally exhilarating" (The Observer), "utterly mad" (The London Evening Standard), "startlingly primal ... visceral art with rampant energy" (Entertainment Weekly), "one of the most outrageous events I have ever been involved in" (CBS) "an acid trip without the acid" (What's On) and "Jump starts the audiences emotions like an injection of adrenaline." (The New York Times).

De La Guarda is all these things and more. It's a carnival, rave, theatre, dance and rock concert combination which literally flies over the head of its audience.

De La Guarda is not something you watch, it's something you enter. It's an inspired thrilling world of shadows, lights, and shapes, inhabited by swooping, indistinct roped figures, who thrash, sway, glide and drift through rain sodden smoke-wrapped spaces, to a backing of intoxicating tribal rhythms, dreamy, and haunting by turns.

De La Guarda is beautiful, magical and extraordinary. Just 3,000 people were lucky enough to see the show when it visited the UK for 10 sell out performances as part of LIFT (the London International Festival of Theatre) in 1997. They were a privileged few... and now you can join them in the sexiest experience of the theatrical century at the Roundhouse in North London.

But only if you can make it past the stream of fascinated celebrities who've visited, returned and re-returned to witness De La Guarda's mesmerising show. Take your pick from a diverse cast including Leonardo di Caprio and Cameron Diaz, Sting, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna, Michael Douglas, Lou Reed, Harrison Ford, Alanis Morrisette, Juliette Binoche and Kate Moss.

"One only ever hears an audience of adults gasp in wonder - "ahhhhhhhhhhhh" - once or twice in a lifetime. It is extraordinary and exhilarating, and it happened last week at De La Guarda". So said The Guardian's reviewer.

Or as the company puts it "we would like to bewitch you all, to thrill you like crazy and get under your clothes, but we don't know how to do this: that's why we do "De La Guarda".

Please Note: This show is suitable for children aged 10 and upwards. The audience stands for the entire show and moves around, and some children might find this intimidating. The Roundhouse has a capacity of 750 for this show.
